Geromusic Lessons are offered for students school-aged and older, or age 6 and up.
Schedule, Prices, and Availability:
Currently lessons are offered in person at the Kennelly Keys Music store Everett location, and online using the Zoom app.
In person lessons are scheduled during store hours Tuesday through Saturday. Online lessons are on Mondays.
Lessons cost $40 per half-hour session or $70 for a full hour.
Curriculum:
My teaching philosophy is fairly simple. I teach what the student wants to learn. I challenge my students to set goals for themselves and then I guide them to achieve those goals. Every student of mine gets a customized curriculum base on the music they want to play, and their individual goals.
Some students aren’t as clear on what they want to learn, and are better served by a little more guidance and direction from the teacher. The following is a general outline of the topics I cover.
Beginners:
- Introduction to terminology, proper playing position.
- Reading standard notation and tab.
- Tuning.
- Simple chords.
Intermediate:
- More chords.
- Scales.
- Arpeggios.
- Harmonics.
- Fingerstyle and picking techniques.
- Introduction to music theory.
Advanced:
- More music theory.
- Ear training.
- Jazz.
- Tapping, sweeps, hybrid picking, banjo rolls, and other advanced techniques.
- Harmonic analysis.
